FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Exhibit of new Teri Jones Watercolor Originals and Prints, “Blue WaterColors: Annapolis to Bonaire”, Opens March 14, 2008 at Gallery St. Thomas.

St. Thomas, USVI, February 26, 2008 — Gallery St. Thomas will introduce "Blue WaterColors: Annapolis to Bonaire, a new collection of watercolor originals and limited edition print series by popular artist Teri Jones on Friday, March 14. According to gallery owner Claire Ochoa, a meet-the-artist reception will take place from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the gallery, #1 Main Street, Upper Level, across from Cardow.

“This will be the fourth solo show for Teri Jones sponsored by Gallery St. Thomas,” said Ochoa. “She puts the ever-changing colors and moods of Caribbean sea and sky on paper so well that her work stirs many memories for both local collectors and island visitors.”

Teri says, “I strive to capture those moments that take your breath away, that give you a sense of reverence for the wonders of nature.”

Many of those moments happen,” she continues, “when you unexpectedly come upon a beautiful hidden beach, or watch clouds change color and shape before your eyes. In the Caribbean, if you stand in one place and turn in four different directions, there are four different skies. In Bonaire, for instance, the undersides of clouds are often pink because they reflect the sand and salt flats. Out at sea, the clouds are often tinged with blue or even green.”

The Caribbean feel of Teri’s work comes naturally. She is one of those fortunate people who is living her dream. As a child in Maryland, she loved books about pirates and fantasized about an adventurous life sailing the blue Caribbean. She began doing just that several years ago, making her home on a sailboat as she and Britt roam from one beautiful island to another, with “land time” in St. Thomas for several months a year. Teri always has painting supplies on hand, and loves giving lessons to beginners as she visits islands from the coast of Venezuela to the Bahamas. She finds teaching the eager home-schooled children of sailing families to be especially satisfying.

In addition to new originals, Teri will present "Cloudlight" a new limited edition signed and numbered reproduction of 50 pieces for 2008. A companion floral still life, also a limited edition reproduction will also be released that night.

“Blue WaterColors: Annapolis to Bonaire” opens Friday, March 14, 2008 at Gallery St. Thomas with a reception honoring Teri Jones from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. The exhibit will run through April 26 and is open to the public. All work is for sale.
