As far back as she can remember, Aphrodite loved to create. A career in cosmetology allowed her to express her creativity as a hair designer. During those years, she joined the arts association in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Her work caught the attention of Boston's Copley master artist, Mark Hayden. Mark directed her to a workshop by New York's N.A. master artist, Daniel E. Greene, where she studied portraiture over a three year period. In the 1990's, Aphrodite painted sports figures such as Kirby Puckett, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson. Five of her sport figure portraits are on display at the New England Sports Museum in Boston.
In 1996, a visit to the Caribbean evoked a new direction for Aphrodite's life and art. The Caribbean's natural beauty inspired the artist and her husband to move to St. Thomas so she could pursue her art career full-time. Her commitment and dedication to her art led her to her studio/gallery in Tillett Gardens. She has been warmly received by the community and art collectors alike.
