David L. Millard
Celebrated watercolorist, author and art teacher, David L. Millard won many
awards for his work from various art associations. Born in Christiansburg, VA
and reared in Caldwell, NJ, he was a resident of both Needham, MA and
St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He received a bachelor of fine arts
degree from Colgate University in New York in 1928. His studies continued
at the Art Students’ League of New York and at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. After spending his early years working in advertising and
interior design, Millard pursued a full-time career in art. His work includes an
incredible body of art that can be found in private collections around the world,
as well as authorship of “Joy of Watercolor” and “More Joy of Watercolor.”
One of the works for sale, a large floral was published in “More Joy of Watercolor.”
His artistry and ability to teach resulted in the blossoming of many wonderful artists
whom to this day sing his praises.
Millard passed away in May of 2002 leaving behind a legacy of fine art.
